Testagen

Animal and cell data only, all from one Russian research network, with no human studies.

Strengths
20 mg
Also known as
KEDG, Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly
Molecule
Synthetic 4-amino-acid peptide
Formula
C17H29N5O9
Mol. weight
447.44 g/mol
Sequence
H-Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly-OH

Origin

Developed by Khavinson's institute in St. Petersburg. Its name refers to testicular research, but the published papers describe it as a peptide based on anterior-pituitary extracts. It differs from Epithalon by only its first amino acid.

How it works

Not established. The developers report test-tube findings: it binds plant histone proteins and changes how plant enzymes cut DNA, which they propose opens gene promoters. None of this involves testicular tissue.

What the research shows

In chicks whose pituitary was removed, KEDG helped restore thymus structure more strongly than Epithalon. A 2010 Russian paper studied its effects on immunity, blood clotting and the thyroid in animals, and cell work lists it among peptides that push immune-cell differentiation. No published study looks at KEDG on testes, sperm or testosterone, and there are no human studies at all.

Key studies

  • Pateyk et al., Bull Exp Biol Med 2013 Restored thymus structure in pituitary-removed chicks, more strongly than Epithalon.
  • Kuznik et al., Patol Fiziol Eksp Ter 2010 Animal study of effects on immunity, clotting and the thyroid (citation only).
  • Khavinson et al., Molecules 2021 Review of test-tube histone-binding and DNA findings.

Safety findings

Never tested in people, so side effects are unknown. Animal studies show endocrine effects (pituitary, thyroid, thymus), so hormonal effects cannot be ruled out.

Regulatory status

Not FDA-approved for any use and not on any FDA compounding list checked, so it cannot lawfully be compounded. Not named on the 2026 WADA List; with no government approval anywhere it most likely falls under S0, and could also draw scrutiny under hormone-related sections.

Catalog notes

Offered in 20 mg, with a certificate (lot TESTA20-0528, 99.9% purity, COA4864). No CAS number is listed. Follow the storage stated on the label and certificate.
