Origin

NAD+ is a coenzyme every cell uses for energy metabolism. This product supplies it in an undisclosed 'proprietary carrier/base solution' in a metered bottle.

How it works

NAD+ shuttles electrons in energy metabolism and feeds enzymes linked to cell repair and aging. It is a large, charged molecule that cannot cross membranes on its own, so such molecules generally cross the nasal or oral lining poorly.

What the research shows

No human study of NAD+ sprayed into the nose or under the tongue was found. A 2007 rat study found intranasal NAD+ raised brain levels and reduced brain injury after an experimental stroke, but that is a single rodent injury model. Swallowed NAD+ is generally thought to break down before absorption; the precursors NR and NMN have small human trials showing raised blood NAD+ markers.

Key studies

  • Ying et al., Frontiers in Bioscience 2007 Intranasal NAD+ raised brain NAD+ and reduced injury in rats after experimental stroke.

Safety findings

No human safety data exist for intranasal or sublingual NAD+. The carrier is undisclosed, so irritants, allergens and preservatives cannot be checked; nasal sprays with irritating ingredients can cause stinging, congestion or nosebleeds.

Regulatory status

No FDA-approved NAD+ drug. NAD is in FDA 503A Category 1 (under evaluation), so licensed pharmacies may compound it with a prescription under FDA's interim policy; this research product is not a compounded medicine. Not named on the 2026 WADA List.

Catalog notes

Offered as 500 mg in 10 mL. No certificate is published yet for the spray, and the carrier, preservative, pH, purity specification and after-opening shelf life are not listed. The 500 mg powder vial has a certificate (COA7592).
